Social Context
Societas NPC focuses on preventing and treating generational trauma through advocacy, partnerships – with ECD organisations like SmartStart, Sikuneye, Sonderend Primary school and providing resources, financial and mental support to organisations with similar objectives. Due to various factors, including historical injustice and ongoing socio-societal challenges, South Africa and areas on the Cape Flats continue to be a highly traumatized society within which trauma occurs during the early development phase of people’s lives.
Vision
The vision of Societas is to empower, educate and enable spiritual and mental resilient children and young people in partnership with parents, teachers and local churches and local businesses.
Mission
Societas NPC provides Early Childhood Development (ECD) wellness programmes that address the physical, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs of learners and families to break cycles of violence, poverty, trauma and inequality.

Membership
Membership and or afiliation is open to church members, businesses, professionals, teachers and community volunteers committed to Societas vision and mission.
Objectives
The core objectives of Societas include amongst others, the following:
- Provide holistic Early Childhood Development NPC (ECD) programmes integrating literacy, nutrition, moral, spiritual and spiritual guidance in Southern Africa
- Enable teachers, parents and caregivers with skills to support children’s holistic, development through workshops and mentorship
- Advocate for vulnerable children’s rights, health and safety.
- Network and partnership with faith-based organisations, schools, and government to scale ECD services in disadvantaged communities with social, economic and moral challenges
- Align programmes with Section 13 of the South African NPO Act 71 of 1997 and South Africa’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Support the SmartStart mission: To ensure all children have the right foundations in place to succeed, while creating employment and social enterprise opportunities, and stimulating economic activity in our most under-resourced communities.
